Weather Verses Climate

Have you ever wondered what weather is? Have you ever wondered what climate is? Certainly everybody has wondered what the difference is between the two. On this page I will explain what weather is. Weather is located in the Troposphere, where humans live. Weather includes phenomenons like temperature, cloud cover, humidity, air pressure, precipitation, and wind. Weather is things like the temperature and precipitation in a certain area of the world, such as your town. Weather is normally forecasted based on a short period of time, such as a day to day change in a given area. When your meteorologist on the news gives a week long forecast, they are giving an estimation of what the weather will be like where you live. Weather is very localized.

Climate is also mostly located in the Troposphere, the lowest part of the Atmosphere. Climate includes things like temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, wind, and atmospheric pressure. Climate is the average weather in a larger area, such as your city or north, south, east, west. Climate is normally an average based on a thirty year period of time. The Climate is also the average weather for the area based on past records for that particular time of year. When your meteorologist on the news talks about average or below temperatures in places like the South or Mid Atlantic he is talking about climate. The average temperature is part of the climate for that area, for the time of year. Climate is a larger area and an average of weather phenomenons.

Weather and Climate are very different things, yet connected to each other. Weather is the day to day events such as wind or cloud cover in a localized area. Climate is the average weather for a larger area for the time of year based on a thirty year period. Without weather though we would not have climate and without climate there would be no weather.
